Happy Holidays! Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or any other traditions this December, we hope you take time to cherish the warmth of family and friends.

With the arrival of December, we've put together a massive event that will be ongoing throughout the entire duration of December. This is called our Frostlight event, and will take you through the lore of Furarrium's own holiday event. Read the details below!

eVENT sHOP

Frostlight holds a special meaning in the hearts of Furarriums, inspired by a tale of the Winter Solstice God and a young boy who spread the gift of holiday cheer. You can read about the story through the 'A Frostlight Carol' Shop Page.

Additionally, you can log in and click the little Candy Cane button at the bottom of the shop to collect a Candy Cane a day; which can be used to purchase the special items from the event shop.

For your convience, the navbar has been updated with the 'Event' link accessible through the little snowflake icon!

12 days of Christmas Advent

On December 13th, we will open an advent calendar where you can collect goodies varying from seeds to items to collection items that will help you complete your first collection! Keep an eye out for a new present box icon that will be added to the navbar when this releases!

Collections?

Collections are a new extension that awards you for collecting all the items in a set. For this Frostlight event, our first collection will be a Gingerbread Village themed around the iconic 'Christmas Villages' that pop out along with the usual Christmas decorations. You can only complete this set by checking the advent calendar daily, so make sure you log-in and check it every day!

New NPC!

This Frostlight, we will be following the story of Felix as he stumbles around a curious town and explores the mystery behind it's cold curse!

The Library is now open!

Are you a true bookworm at heart? We have a short and sweet story that will follow our new hero as he walks around the mysterious town. Reading these books will not give you any sort of reward, but each prompt will be themed around that week's book!

Additionally, books have now been added to the sidebar under 'The Codex' where you can access any future books we publish!

Week 1 Prompt

For the month of December, we will forgo the monthly prompt and instead do weekly prompts for each week! You are not required to draw all of them, but by doing so, you can earn additional event currency upwards to 5 candy canes. Click below for our first week's prompt:

Winter is cold, so every Furarrium is looking for a way to cheer up. How does your Furarrium bring some festive cheer to the month?

A Warm Frostlight + NPC Raffles

Throughout the month, we will have two raffles going on.

The first raffle will be going throughout the entire month and features this lovely design by gold .

The second raffle will be a weekly raffle and will end each Monday. These will feature NPCs that are mentioned in our Winter Chronicles Series and will be designed by a variety of moderators.

This week's NPC is the kind deer lady that Felix meets, designed by gold .

Additionally, we have created a Raffle Page that will provide a short overview of all on-going raffles and how you can enter each one!

We will also have a future raffle hosted on Toyhou.se once again hosted closer towards the end of the month, so stay tuned for information about that raffle!

New Themes

To celebrate the arrival of the Winter season, our amazing owner andro has created a brand new Winter theme! Both of these themes can be accessed under 'Settings > Themes' and are free for all users to access! For your convience, we have added both a Light Mode and Dark Mode of the Winter Theme.

Please note that as of right now, the CSS colors have not been properly updated to reflect the theme. This will be fixed in a few days!

This amazing design was made by gold , and could be yours!

We’ve increased the chance of earning Seeds in our Dailies table, now giving you over a 60% chance of receiving one of our various Seed amounts.

This change is aimed at reducing item inflation by decreasing the drop rate for less frequently used items. It should also help you accumulate Seeds that can be used to buy the items you actually want from the shop, instead of filling your inventory with items you’re unlikely to use.

We’ll continue to monitor these drops and make adjustments as needed to ensure the balance feels just right!

In the future I have three different extensions I'm pulling that will help combat these unwanted items: Donation Shop, User Shops (where you can sell the items at a price YOU set if other members want to buy them), and Trade Listing!

Frostlight is a huge deal in Malahanau. With the arrival of the Winter Solstice-- when the first snow falls like clockwork and the days get their shortest-- comes a chilling presence as snow covers the island. To combat the darkness, it became tradition for friends and family to come together and light candles, hang festive lights across town, and set off fireworks. On the day of Frostlight, the shortest day across the island, businesses close as soon as the sun sets, and everyone gathers in town squares and local parks to drink warm drinks and watch the light show. It became an important day to celebrate togetherness and community when facing harsh conditions, and so, it also became a tradition to exchange thoughtful gifts to loved ones to show appreciation for them.

Is it still early October? No? Ah, well… early enough!

Thanks so much for your patience! We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve officially re-launched the species after months of hard work behind the scenes! Huge shoutout to our amazing moderators for getting all the site features ready before launch. It wasn’t an easy task, and Mars might just go cry and eat ice cream in her hermit hole now, but we did it! The site is fully up and excited to welcome new members!

Quick Note: Beta Phase

What does this mean?

We’re still in the Beta Phase, so while the site is live, you might notice some bugs and CSS quirks while browsing. We’re also still working on adding art, lore, and more content. Some core features, like Breedings, Shops, and Categories, might be missing or need a bit more polish. That’s totally okay! We’re on it and will announce when everything’s finalized.

We’ve got plenty more features planned, so keep an eye out for announcements about those as they roll out. One of the next things coming is Dev Logs, a special News Post section for updates on our website development.

Quick Note: Promotions

We’re thrilled to announce that, thanks to their hard work on the site, we’ve promoted our Masterlist Archaeologists and Poets to full-time, permanent Senior Moderators! Additionally, one of our Masterlist Archaeologists, Seal, has been promoted to Owner. This decision was made collectively by the three owners—Mars, Andro, and Golden—recognizing Seal's unwavering dedication and commitment to the species over the years. We’re excited to have her on board as an owner and can’t wait to see what new ideas we can bring to you!

As for moderation positions, we’ll be re-opening applications soon, but not just yet. Our community is still small, and we believe it’s best to keep moderation manageable for now. However, as we grow and expand our community, we plan to open up positions for Junior Moderators in the near future. We kindly ask that you hold off on inquiring about these positions, but rest assured that opportunities will arise for everyone soon!

Quick Note: FTO Basket Eligibility

Anyone can claim the First-Time Owner basket found in the Shop even if you have characters attached to your account-- we are considering this a completely fresh new start because we have vastly changed the design rules for Furarriums!

We have decided to move away from being a feral-only closed species and are now allowing humanoid and anthromorphs forms as stand-alone characters. You can read up about them in the Design Guide!

Monthly Prompts!
We will host a new monthly prompt at the beginning of each month: but for now, we will skip over an October prompt due to how late it is! Keep an eye peeled for an announcement on November 1st!

Dailies!
Want to start building up your stash of seeds? Check out the Dailies, where you can test your luck to get a randomized amount of seeds or maybe even some rare items!

All candy will be hidden ON-SITE. This can be in character masterlist, user pages, or regular pages, but all of them are accessible THROUGH THE SITE and the site alone!

You can enter any raffles you find through the treats-- but you can only enter once for each respective raffle!

We’d like to keep the scavenger hunt fair and fun for everyone-- so please do NOT reveal where the candies are hidden!

We can see if you are creating multiple accounts-- we cannot find your direct location, but we CAN see if multiple accounts are logging into the same IP address. If you are caught abusing our referral bonus, you will be barred from entering in the raffle and potentially given a mark against your account. Do not attempt to abuse the referral system or events by creating alternative accounts.
