With the season of Winter arriving, the people of Hanau have burrowed into their cozy homes and gathered by the fireplace to get together and reminisce the past year. While the origin of the story has been lost to time, there is a popular story that likes to spread around every winter season.

Centuries ago, when the world was young and full of wonder, the god Auremidis looked down from their starry palace and saw a little village of Furarriums nestled in the heart of Hanau. These creatures, having just discovered how to farm for food and replenish the nature around them, were still struggling with a problem. Each winter, the air would get too cold and the skies would get too dark for anything to grow. For months, they were left without food, and without the life that gave them their magic.

Seeing their struggle, Auremidis decided to visit them. Disguised as a traveler cloaked in frost, they walked among the Furarriums, watching their quiet homes and flickering fires. One evening, a small child with glowing eyes offered Auremidis a seed, the only thing they had to share.

"Why are you sad, little one?" Auremidis asked gently.

"Winter takes away our light," The child said. "We can't see, and the plants won't grow."

Auremidis was touched by the child’s kindness. That night, they climbed to the peak of Hanau’s tallest tree and spread their divine cloak across the sky. The cloak coated the sky in a fluffy, pale grey, and the first snowflakes fell, sparkling like diamonds in the moonlight. The snow carried Auremidis’s magic, blanketing the village in warmth and light. Wherever it fell, it shimmered like tiny stars, giving Hanau the light to persist through the winter.

From that day forward, snow fell at the beginning of every December, a reminder that even in the darkest times, light and joy could be found. And so, the Furarriums decorate their homes in brilliant lights each year and exchanged gifts to their loved ones to honor Auremidis, and the child who inspired him to save them.
