DESIGN GUIDE

This page is an in-depth guide on everything there is to know about designing Furarriums. If you're new to the species, consider reading the Newbie Guide!

Base requirements

Furarriums have a set of base design rules that can only be altered with specific traits. These rules may change based on the forms of the idols due to their differing anatomy, but there are a few base rules:

🌿 A body partially made of hollowed out glass, which may or may not have various fillings inside.

🌿 Fur patches near these glass body parts.

🌿 The ears and tails of their respective species (or maybe a mis-matched species, like a Chimera).

🌿 The tail is made entirely out of glass.

🌿 Foliage on their body.

The three Furarrium forms are all known as their respective names: Primal, Archeons, and Idols. These are their 'Feral', 'Anthropomorphized', and 'Humanoid' forms respectively. Fortunately, you are not required to have all the forms or any specific one; you simply need to follow the base guidelines and choose one of the forms!

Beyond that, every furarrium by default has:
✔ A tail with no fur
✔ A tail shaped like their species' tail
✔ Ears shaped like their species' ears
✔ A coat of fur that includes at least one color from their Idol form's hair
✔ A head of hair that includes at least one color from their primal or archeon form's fur
✔ Eyes with white sclera
✔ An assigned species (even if you only use the Idol form)

*All of these default features (except a tail with no fur) can be changed with traits, which we discuss in the next section!

🌿 Some features may not required but don't need to be listed as trait.
🌿 Accessories are not limited, and can be placed wherever in whatever quantity you want on the design. However, when submitting the design, you must offer a reference that clearly displays all markings and traits.
🌿 Eye color, pupil shape, fur color*, fur pattern, ear color, nose color, paw color, mouth color, missing limbs, shorter limbs, fur/hair length, and size are not limited by any trait.
*Idols may have specific traits, such as unnatural skin-tone, that are counted seperately.

TRAITS

Any attributes that a Furarrium have that deviate from the standard base design are called traits.
You can find them all in the Traits Page. If a trait is not listed or you otherwise have questions about what items would classify into which traits, don't heistate to ask a moderator for clarification!

🍂⋆。˚

There are categories and rarities that sort each trait.

Categories:
  • Tail traits affect the shape of the glass tail. By default, the tail is supposed to look natural, like their assigned species. But traits allow your design to have any shape tail, or even no tail at all.
  • Glass traits affect the appearance of glass and where it's placed on the body. By default, there is only glass on the tail. But traits allow your design to have glass anywhere else on their body, as well as have tinted, painted, or even broken glass.
  • Content traits affect what is inside the glass. The default is plants and rocks, but traits allow for a variety of contents, such as water, food, small animals, or any other appropriate objects.
  • Body traits either affect the objects growing on the body or affect miscellaneous bodily features, such as wings, extra/very long body parts, and more. By default, plants or rocks grow from the fur, but traits allow for a much broader range of objects—or none at all.

Rarities:

Traits come in a variety of different rarities:
Common, Uncommon,  Rare,  Super Rare,  Ultra Rare,  Elusive,  Fabled,  and Seasonal!
These seasonal rarities are based on the seasons, of course:
Spring,  Summer,  Autumn, and Winter.

Wait! What do you mean by Seasonal?

Seasonal TRAITS

Seasonal traits are exclusive design elements available to Furarriums for a limited time each year, typically spanning three months per season. Attached to the site will be a 'Current Season' information, which reflects what our seasonal options are! These traits provide an exciting opportunity to incorporate unique characteristics into your Furarrium, allowing for customization that typically reflects the changing seasons.

You may attach seasonal traits to your MYO Slot at any point during the active season; however, please be aware that each trait will only be available for free during that specific season. For instance, if you purchase a Fall Seasonal Trait, you will have the duration of the Fall season to use the trait at no additional cost. While the seasonal trait option will not disappear once the season has passed, it is important to note that you can only apply the trait for free during its designated season.

If you happen to want a seasonal trait that is currently out-of-season, you are able to aquire an out-of-season option through our Official Events, Customs, or rare sales. Keep an eye our announcements for details on upcoming events and sales that may feature these sought-after out-of-season options!

In addition to the base seasonal traits, we may offer one or two premium paid traits each season that provide extra design options. These premium traits are specially curated to reflect the season's holiday themes, such as Halloween, New Years Eve, and more.

🍂⋆。˚

You can obtain traits through MYOs (Make Your Owns), which grant access to traits of a certain rarity or below, or through items that let you add a single trait during the design or redesign process.

Redesigning Furarriums

Redesigning an existing Furarrium can be done right through this website, as long as that Furarrium is uploaded to the masterlist and listed under your account.

Accessories and clothing can be changed freely without a redesign request. If you would like to update your character's ML image with a new accessory or clothing, you can submit a Design Update, just make sure to comment what you're doing!
However, changing the 'core' features or traits of your Furarrium will generally require items to do so. Changes that are too great may even need to visit the Boutique, so please keep that in mind as you are redesigning your character! Adding too many traits, color changes, and otherwise changing the design vastly can lead to entirely new designs in some cases, which would not be allowed with a free redesign.

🍂⋆。˚

Here are some free redesigns that can be done regardless of an item:

🌿 Accessories are able to be added, removed, or changed regardless of an item. They are purely decorational and will never require an item.

🌿Removing traits are completely free to do and will never require an item.

🌿Tattoos are a case-by-case basis and may generally fall under markings depending on how much of the character's body is covered in tattoos.

🍂⋆。˚

Restrictions:

There are some redesigns that, while not forbidden, are heavily frowned upon and may not be accepted:

❌ Changing the body size, type, or weight of your Furarrium, especially in a way that erases diversity or reinforces harmful stereotypes.

❌ Significantly altering skin tone, such as lightening a dark-skinned Furarrium, without careful consideration.

Changing or removing features that are culturally significant, such as hairstyles, clothing styles, or accessories tied to specific cultures.

If your Furarrium has features that represent a disability, avoid altering or removing those features unless you are intending to create a new redesign that respects and represents that experience.

While redesigns are a fun and creative way to customize your character, changes that erase or alter aspects tied to minority groups, such as skin tone, body size, or other cultural traits, can be harmful. Lightening dark skin, making a plus-sized character thin, or altering features that hold significance to certain communities may unintentionally contribute to negative stereotypes or the erasure of diversity.

Though these changes are not explicitly against the rules, we strongly discourage them. We want to foster a respectful and inclusive environment, and such changes can be hurtful to others in the community. If you're unsure about a redesign or would like advice, please don't hesitate to ask a moderator for guidance. In any case, we recommend that you wait to create one with your own MYO slot or find another design that already fits the vision you're looking for.

🍂⋆。˚

Items

Any changes made during a redesign will require specific items. You can obtain redesign items from the Seed Shop, as rewards from events, advents, or dailies, or by trading with other community members.

There are two types of redesign items:

Trait Addition Items: These allow you to add one new trait to your Furarrium of a specific rarity or lower.

Appearance Change Items: These let you modify the character’s colors, patterns, contents, or body objects.

Keep in mind that each item is limited to one action—either adding a trait or altering one aspect of the design. However, you can use as many items as needed in a single redesign, allowing multiple changes as long as you have enough items. Just keep in mind: making too many changes at once might lead to the redesign being rejected!

The Botanic boutique

We also offer The Botanic Boutique, where you can commission a moderator to redesign your Furarrium for you. The changes can range from small adjustments to full design overhauls, where the original design is altered so much that it becomes unrecognizable. In such cases, the old design is donated to the admin account and eventually returned back to the community during events and raffles.

Using the Boutique is entirely optional unless you are looking to overhaul the design entirely. It’s just an alternative if you’d prefer not to use items or if you’d like some custom artwork from the moderation team. The only time you’ll need items for a Boutique redesign is if you’re adding a higher rarity trait to your Furarrium—otherwise, everything is covered by your comission.

If you have chosen to redesign your Furarrium through the Boutique, you do not need to worry about submitting a redesign. The moderator will handle that for you!

Great! How do I submit a redesign?

Redesigning an existing Furarrium that you own must be done directly through this website. There are no alternative methods; you’ll need to submit a design update here. This ensures we have proper proof of ownership and streamlines the entire process for both you and the team.

You can find the 'Update Design' button on your designated character's page, at the very bottom of the navbar on the left.  The following page will guide you through the process of:

Commenting any changes you are making
Updating Your Masterlist Image
Adding on any items you must use
Updating any traits, rarities, and even species.
